The Bromfield girls softball team extended its losing streak last week, falling to Gardner, Lunenburg, Littleton, and Oakmont.
The Gardner Wildcats trumped Bromfield 13–1 Tuesday, May 8, to stand on top of the Midland-Wachusett League Division C with an overall record of 8–3 and a league record of 4–1. Wildcat sophomore Anna Tassone pitches for the team.
The following day, Wednesday, May 9, the Bromfield Trojans challenged the Lunenburg Blue Knights but fell 8–1. Bromfield took the lead at the start, notching one run in the first inning, but Lunenburg took back the game soon afterward. The Blue Knights recorded their first run in the second inning, tying the game at 1–1. Lunenburg added five more runs in the third inning, added one in the fifth, and finished with one more in the seventh. The Blue Knights had 10 hits overall, and Bromfield had six. The game left Lunenburg with an overall record of 9–3 and a league record of 6–1 for second place in the Mid-Wach League Division D.
The Trojans faced the Littleton Tigers Friday, May 11, falling 6–5 and in their closest game of the week. Littleton occupied third place in Division D of the Mid-Wach League.
Bromfield then tackled Oakmont Regional High School Monday, May 14, but lost 10–0. Oakmont had an overall record of 7–7 and held third place in the Mid-Wach League Division C.
After the string of losses, Bromfield softball stood at fifth in the Mid-Wach’s Division D with a 0–4 league record and a 1–10 overall record.
The Trojans’ were scheduled to play Tyngsborough at home on Wednesday, May 16, followed by four more games the following week.
