Auditions announced for Community Talent Show
Maybe there’s a song no one can sing the way you do, or you and your friends do. Or maybe it’s a dance routine you choreographed and perform. An instrumental recital? Whatever it is, bring your talent to the auditions for the 2010 Harvard Community Talent Show, sponsored by the Harvard Friends of the Arts.
Auditions will be held Wednesday, March 24, and Sunday, March 28, at 7 p.m. in Volunteers Hall and are open to any resident of Harvard age 13 or older. The stage is limited—small groups are welcome. At least one member must be a Harvard resident. Bring sheet music for accompanist. No animals, please. Audience is welcome. Participants should prepare a two-minute piece to perform. Selected participants will perform in the 2010 Community Talent Show to be presented Saturday, April 24, at 7 p.m. at Volunteers Hall. For more information e-mail to Di Hall at DianeMarieHall@verizon.net.
Commission cautions about Harvard trails in mud season
The Conservation Commission reminds residents to keep in mind the following rules and etiquette for the use of Harvard’s trails.
Use caution and restraint when walking at this time of year and stay off trails when conditions are at their worst, since the trails are vulnerable to rapid degradation during mud season and can present hazards to people and horses.
Horses and bikes are not permitted on trails when conditions are muddy.
Residents should not cut through fields on conservations land unless on a trail. Fields are protected for wildlife and agricultural use. Riders may pass around the periphery of fields, but may not use conservation land for rings, exercise, or jumping.
Horseback riding and trial biking are not permitted on secondary trails, designated by blue blazes, unless otherwise marked. Horses are permitted on primary (yellow) trails.
For the full text of policies on horseback riding on Harvard trails, see the town’s website. For more information contact Candy Frazer at candy.f@charter.net, Pam Browning at pjbrowning2001@yahoo.com, or Conservation Agent Liz Allard at 978-456-4106.
