Come to the Art Gallery at Fruitlands Sunday, April 23, from 3 to 5 p.m. to celebrate the opening of two new exhibitions:
“Literary Spirit at Fruitlands Museum and the Old Manse” This exhibit will cover approximately 100 years, from the 1770s to the 1880s. At its heart, and in the center of the gallery space, will be the books, journals, and letters that connected the writers who lived and worked in Concord and Harvard. The rich literary and social history will be enhanced by photos and an interactive installation by contemporary artists Lisa McCarty and Jonathan Gitelson.
“Greg Lookerse, Literary Soil”Fruitlands Artist in Residence Greg Lookerse creates sculptural artwork from the works of authors including St. Augustine, Herman Melville, Henry David Thoreau, and Annie Dillard. The ideas held within the pages become activated and made public in a way they wouldn’t if they remained on a bookshelf.
The reception is free Free with museum admission. For more information call 978-456-3924 x286 or email email@example.com.
